IN THE
SPOTLIGHT

with Malakai Lelieveld AKA Dj Silent Assassin

What it's
all about

In The Spotlight is a podcast created to hold honest conversations about music, identity, creativity, and the industry… without ego, without performative nonsense. It’s a space for real stories, real process, and the messy middle that people don’t usually talk about.

for the
people

This podcast is for female DJs and female musicians, and for those who feel aligned with that space. If you’re are non binary, or you’re an ally, there’s room here. The point is connection, respect, and giving artists a platform to be heard.

Integrity is a strong value and one we look out for in all our guests. In The Spotlight holds morals and values under working and collaborating together. You get a platform to use your voice, offer value to our listeners and in return for that opportunity you offer support in your capacity to growing the podcast. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Topics
we love

  • Finding your sound and your confidence

  • The importance of sexuality and inclusivity

  • Breaking into lineups and building momentum

  • Identity, creativity, and staying grounded

  • Creating community, collaboration, and support

  • What you do to empower and uplift others

acknowledgment of countrY

I wish to acknowledge the custodians of Yalukit-Willam, the Woiwurrung nation, the Boonwoorung nation, and their Elders past and present. I recognise and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs, and relationship with the land, which continue to be important to the Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung Nation people living today. Sovereignty has never been ceded. Always was, always will be, aboriginal land.
